The Paralyser and Twin Valleys 2-3 August 08
Given the unstable weather conditions this weekend (2-3 August 2008) we decided to grab some soft option BC pow near the resorts.
On Saturday we headed for the Paralyser after lunch. Conditions were cloudy and flurries fell most of the afternoon so the surface stayed light and very soft.

We had four very tasty runs each with light slough overtaking us on the steeper bits. After that the mountain was naturally adjudged "tracked out" and as the snow was falling faster we scooted out down Farm Creek to Guthega.
At the Diggings that night we proceeded to stoke up a mammoth blaze and I had a half-hearted attempt to set another pair of my gloves on fire while drying them. Despite the stars shining bright and clear overhead, light flurries kept blowing in during the night and we woke up to found modest powder stashes on top of the swags.
Given the fierce winds up high on Sunday morning we decided to use those newfangled mechanical contraptions known as "lifts", this time at Thredbo.
By mid morning Stanley's Gorge was calling us and after a quick traverse over to check it out we were shocked to find it untracked. Kids these days... no initiative! I blame the parents.

No time was wasted:

We also met a couple of others who we had met the day before on out at the Paralyser. They were doing it the pure way, skinning up each time (we opted for the rather more sketchy bush bash to the bottom).
Eventually the trials of the bush bash got the better of us and we rounded the weekend off with a few more lift rides. When we left at around 3.30pm it was snowing lightly in the carpark which gave a nice finishing touch to the weekend.
